Pediatric Certification Exam Guide

Exam Process

1. Register for the Pediatric Certification exams.  The Pediatric Certification exam fee is $500.  Registration unlocks the MC exam for each course marked as Attended in your account.
2. Pass the MC exams.  You must pass an exam for each course that you have attended.  100% is required.  You may retake the MC exams as many times as needed to earn 100%
3. Pass the Capstone Exam.  The Capstone Exam consists of 7 essays, designed to be answered using material learned from all courses.  You will be able to register for the Capstone Exam once you have attended 200 hours worth of Pediatric courses and have completed the MC exam for each.  An 80% for each essay is required to pass the Capstone Exam.

Please note:  You must be a DC member in order to register for the exams.  Student members will need to upgrade their membership to DC status in order to unlock the exams.

Deadlines 

MC Exams:  There is no deadline to complete all multiple choice exams, however we highly recommend completing all exams (MC and Capstone) within 3 years of your first seminar.

Capstone Exam:  Once you have registered for the Capstone Exam, the exam coordinator will review your account to ensure you have completed all course and MC exam requirements, and approve your registration. Once your registration is approved you will have 90 days to complete the Capstone Exam.  Your due date will be emailed to you and will also be listed at the top of the Pediatric tab in your account.

• You can request up to three 30-day extensions. You must make this request prior to the exam due date. You are allotted only three 30-day extensions or be subject to re-registering for the entire exam.   Extension fee: $50 USD each (non-refundable).

Grading

MC Exams:  You must achieve 100% on each MC exam.  You can retake each MC exam as many times as needed to achieve 100%.

Capstone Exam:  You must achieve 80% on each Capstone Essay.  You will receive a rubric when you register for the Capstone Exam.  Your Capstone Exam will be graded by a member of the ICPA Pediatric Council.

Exam Results

MC Exams:  The system will track your progress.  Once you have successfully passed the MC exam for a course, your status will update from Attended to Passed.

Capstone Exam:  Your Capstone Essays will be graded within 90 days of submission.  You will be notified of your scores via email.

• Passed Capstone Exam:  Once you have passed the Capstone Exam, we will verify in your account that you have completed all requirements needed in order to earn your Pediatric Certification and you will receive an email update.
• Failed Capstone Exam:  Each question that does not earn 80% or higher will need to be retaken. The retake fee is $50 per question.  You will receive an email with further instructions on how to register for a retake.
